Investment Arbitration Webinar: IIDRC Hosts Expert Discussion on BITs, State Conduct, and Investor Rights

The Institutional and Industrial Dispute Resolution Centre (IIDRC), under its AAI Series, successfully conducted a webinar titled “Investment Arbitration, BITs, State Conduct, Investor Rights and India’s Evolving Treaty Landscape”, bringing together leading experts and professionals from the dispute resolution and international law community.

Held on February 7, 2026, in a virtual format, the session attracted strong participation from legal practitioners, policy researchers, academicians, and students interested in international investment law and arbitration. The webinar explored the changing dynamics of Bilateral Investment Treaties, evolving standards of state responsibility, and the balance between investor protection and sovereign regulatory powers in the Indian context.

The session was moderated by Ms. Helene Schramm, Programme Associate at CELIS Institute, who guided an engaging and structured dialogue among the panelists.

The expert panel featured Justice A. M. Magrey, Former Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Dr. Argha Kumar Jena, Founder and Transnational Legal Advisor, Ms. Ramya Raman, Partner at P and A Law Offices, and Mr. Bhushan Satish, Counsel at Sidley Austin LLP. The speakers shared practical insights on treaty interpretation, investor state dispute resolution trends, and India’s evolving treaty negotiation and arbitration framework.
