IIDRC Conducts International Webinar on Career Pathways in Arbitration

The Institutional and Industrial Dispute Resolution Centre, IIDRC, in collaboration with the International Women in Arbitration, IWIA, successfully hosted the webinar titled “Building Credibility in Arbitration Practice, Pathways, Transitions, and Appointments”. The session was conducted online and brought together early career practitioners and experienced professionals for a structured and insight driven discussion.

The panel featured distinguished arbitration practitioners, including Ms. Surabhi Lal, Principal Associate at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Co., Ms. Tanya Singla, Associate at Travers and Hamlin, Dubai, Dr. Zeina Obeid, Partner and Arbitrator at Obeid and Partners, Dubai, and Dr. Misha Kumar, Arbitrator, Mediator and Counsel at MMK Law Chamber, India. The session was moderated by Ms. Shipra Pyare, Senior Associate at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Co.

The discussion centred on practical aspects of building a career in arbitration, including establishing professional credibility, navigating cross jurisdictional transitions, and understanding pathways to arbitrator appointments. The speakers emphasised that confidence in arbitration is developed through competence, preparation, and procedural discipline. The session also explored distinctions between tribunal and counsel perspectives in drafting, the strategic use of procedural conduct, and effective handling of expert witnesses.

The webinar witnessed active participation and engagement from attendees, reflecting sustained interest in experience led arbitration guidance. The collaboration with IWIA further strengthened IIDRC’s engagement with international arbitration networks and facilitated a meaningful cross border exchange of perspectives.
